Engaging in individual therapy or couples counseling works best when you have confidence in your treatment. It is important that you experience a "good fit" between you and your therapist to achieve your goals. Selecting a therapist should be done with good information about your choices. This page will give you basic information about the services I provide.
My clinical practice style is interactive. This means that much of our time together will be spent with both of us talking about the issues you are facing. During our sessions we will explore these issues, and together find new ways for you to think and act so that you can make desired changes, and help others to respond differently to you.
The goal of our work together will be to identify obstacles to improving your life, your relationships and your personal happiness. Once these challenges are identified I will work with you to change and learn how to do more of what works in your life, and less of what doesn't. As always, personal gains made in therapy result from a combination of the therapist's skills and the client's participation and follow-through.
Depending on your self-identified goals, I offer treatment in several modalities:

Behavioral Therapy for specific challenges such as fears that seem to take over and habits you've been trying to break.

Insight-oriented Therapy to help you understand your challenges, discover their origins and the current impact in your life, and help you find ways to make changes.

Existential Therapy to help reveal the interaction between your "world view" and the life problems you are facing, and to create a more balanced alignment between your values, feelings, intentions, and behavior.
Short-term and Long-term therapy is available.
I also offer Episodic Therapy, which allows you to schedule 8 sessions at a time, taking regular breaks from treatment so you can practice new skills then return to therapy 30 days later to review and continue.
For African-American clients I also specialize in the unique cultural issues that Black people encounter in our society, particularly in cross-cultural relationships at home and at work.
Weekly sessions are 45 minutes long. Both more frequent as well as longer sessions can be arranged upon your request.
